What do you do with leftover idli or dosa batter? Use it to prepare Punukulu or Ponganalu. They are quick and easy to prepare. Just add chopped onion, green chillis, cumin seeds, coriander leaves and soaked channa dal to the batter and prepare shallow fried fritters aka Gunta Ponganalu or Pongadalu, a Rayalaseema speciality.

Used up half a loaf of left over bread to prepare upma for breakfast today. Took me exactly 12 mts to serve breakfast. The key to a good bread upma is to use stale bread (at least 3 days old) and place in a few tbsps of curd for a few minutes before preparation. Ensure the bread does not get soggy.
