  3. Hey Sailu

Try oatmeal simply with rasam/ sambhar. I simply microwave with some rasam diluted with water. Tastes yummy and I realized once tangyness hits the oats their sticky texture is lost. Try it.

  4. Hi Sailu…..I tried the methi oats recipe and it turned out great, my kids and husband loved this variation than the regular oats and apple which I make. Like this a lot.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas.

  7. Wish I could get them all to eat oatmeal. One loves it two don’t and it’s tough to make different breakfasts on these busy mornings. THey all like pancakes tho so when we have the time that’s the choice. Batter Blaster has made life easier although I would really rather do it from scratch. THey are good tho and super easy. Digging that they are organic too and we like to top with fresh fruit. Not bad and nice to have a hot breakfast on these cold mornings.
    Cheers.

  8. Sailu Garu, mee apple-oats recepie ki chinna option, you can try too :-)

1 cup oats = 2cups water. Bring water to boil, add pinch of salt, oats and raisins as required. After well cooked, get off the stove, add honey, little milk( 1 cup oats = 1/4 cup milk), chopped fruits(can be apple or banana, dont add orange or any citrus fruits cause they become watery and give a very biter taste). Mix well and eat .. its yummy.

I have been serving this as morning breakfast for my husband and my little daughter for 5yrs now, they love it anytime :-)

    thanks
    Sreelatha

  9. Sorry Sailu Garu, I am a very crazy fan of ur recepies and i use your website more often for any get-togethers. I always try a little mix-match to your recepies and there is one for the methi-oats:

In the methi-oats recepie, the same can be done with vegetables also.
Heat olive oil in a vessel, add grated ginger, curry leaves, dry chilli and onions and saute for 2 mts, add any vegetables of your choice like carrot, peas, potato and saute for another 2 mts. Add salt and crushed pepper to taste, combine. leave them in medium flame covered to half-cook. Add water and bring to a boil. Add oats and salt and cook till oats turn soft. Remove from heat and serve warm.

tip - you can either add oats to the vegetables and boil together or boil oats separately and add to the cooked vegetables.

  10. Wow, lovely recipe ideas Sailu. I always have oats for breakfast and am in search for new recipes all-the-time :)

    Merry Christmas,
    Siri

  11. Hi Sailu,

Been thinking to comment and let you know what a die hard fan I am of your site. You never let me down when ever I had to cook something and looked it up here. You are awesome. My breakfast version of oats has always been cook oats, add milk and splenda/sugar and on the days when I am diet freak, I’ll add sambar or curry to the cooked oats. Never tried anything beyond this. But now, looking at your recipes, I am jumping here for those awesome ideas. I am gonna go buy oats today and start with your recipes for breakfast tomorrow.

Thanks so much Sailu. (Though you do not know me, taking liberty to call you Sailu. Hope you don mind.)

    Cheers,
    Padma.

  12. Hello Sailu,
These are really gr8 and very innovative ways to make something savory out of oats. I am surely going to try these. My favourite is the standard oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins and cinnamon, and I use variations with honey/walnut/bananas etc.
But the savory stuff is a great way of cutting out sugar, especially at breakfast.

    thanks!
