Chocolate Banana Bread

In my last post, 6 Evening Tiffins, I had not blogged the Chocolate Banana Bread recipe. Hope you prepare this delicious chocolatey, banana flavored bread and enjoy as much as we did. :)

Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

Preparation: 10 mts, Baking: 40 mts

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cup all purpose flour

1/2 cup atta/whole wheat flour

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup white sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa pwd

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 mashed bananas

1/2 cup melted butter

1/2 cup toasted, coarsely chopped walnuts

fistful white chocolate chips (optional)

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking pwd

1 Preheat oven to 180 C. Grease and flour a loaf pan.
2 Combine maida, atta, baking pwd, baking soda, salt, sugar, and cocoa pwd in a bowl.
3 In another bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, eggs and vanilla essence.
4 Using a wooden spoon, slowly fold in the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined. Add the nuts and chocolate chips and combine. The batter will appear thick.
5 Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and lightly sprinkle brown sugar on the top. Bake in preheated oven for 45-55 mts or till a toothpick inserted into the bread comes out clean. Place on a wire rack to cool, slice and serve at room temperature.

    Lovely post. I tried it yesterday (without the walnuts, as my son is under 2), taste was brilliant, but it turned out crumbly (not as a nice piece), wonder what I had missed..can you kindly help.

    Probably you could cut down on butter the next time and also check on the baking time. Bake for a shorter while than called for and see how the cake turns out.
